War cost Britain Libya

Said a British newspaper that London spent six million pounds ($ 9.8 million) a week on bombs and rockets in the war in Libya. She explained that the expenditure comes at a time, demanding that the British government coalition a substantial reduction in the expenses of public services, including the reduction of defense expenditures.

The Daily Mail newspaper said that British forces used about $ 66 million (108 million dollars) from the precision-guided munitions, including 20 Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from submarines against Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi, during 11 weeks of fighting. She added that Britain spends also 285 thousand pounds (467 dollars) a week on housing crews air force, including their housing at the base of Gioia del Cooley air in southern Italy, for a total of 3.1 million pounds ($ 5 million), as well as 300 thousand pounds a week on fuel jets, and 131 thousand soldiers on weekly allowances, since their participation in air operations in Libya.

She noted that the total spent by Britain on the operations of its forces in Libya amounted to about 75 million pounds ($ 123 million) so far, a figure that far exceeds the amount allotted by the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne in March last year for the operations of British forces in Libya.  He spoke and British Minister of State for the Armed Forces Nick Harvey for the estimated cost of the contribution of his country in the NATO operations in Libya in response to a parliamentary question.

The newspaper quoted the minister as saying that Harvey, the real costs of the United Kingdom’s involvement in NATO operations modest compared with other operations such as Afghanistan.
